The Academy has two main professional tutors who jointly run NADA Andrea Holmes and Dorothy Ellis. Both trained at London’s Academy of Live And Recorded Arts, and after working in the theatrical business for many years, the tutors have a wealth of hands on experience to pass on to their students at the Academy.
Andrea Holmes
Andrea is a professional Stage/Production manager, and after training went on to teach Stage Production as Head of Stage Management at London’s Academy of Live and Recorded Arts. Andrea founded and produced a musical company with actress June Brown (Eastenders Dot Cotton) as patron. She also went on to write, direct and act for a touring company called Revelation. She now puts her 1st class honours degree in Performance Arts into good use as a lecturer at Sunderland University and East Durham College. Dorothy Ellis Dorothy is professional actor and singer. After leaving drama school she went on to work with singing group City Rhythm touring London and abroad. Dorothy has appeared in many theatre and television productions over the years, but still had the time to fit in a 1st class honours degree in Performance Arts Studies. She now works for the renowned Newcastle based theatre company “Bruvvers”.
